hackerattack
Hacker stole $1 million from a trader's account on Binance via a malicious Chrome extension On May 24, a hacker gained full access to a Chinese trader's Binance account without a password and 2FA, withdrawing $1 million. The investor received no security notifications. Experts discovered that the hacker used a malicious Chrome extension, AggrTrade, promoted in Telegram channels. On May 29, the original AggrTrade team reported a fraudulent extension exploiting their brand, targeting Binance, Bitget, and Kraken since March 2024. The trader criticized Binance's support service for slow response during the attack. Binance's intervention and coordination with Gate.io and KuCoin took over a day and proved ineffective. The investor suspects that Binance was aware of the issue since March 2024 when rumors of a similar breach prompted a response from the CEO, but timely actions were not taken.
